You've heard the stories that the shoemaker’s kids have no shoes, and the doctor’s kids are always sick…well, add photographers without marketing materials to the list.

For a long time, I have needed to push myself to let more people know what I am doing and what I can do for them…and, I’m pretty good at these things too. Avoiding the excuse that "I'm too busy"...I have gone through my email contacts and my business card file and created this first newsletter to share a bit of my experiences with you.

In future mailings I will share my knowledge and opinions in digital photography, provide behind the scenes insight to some of my favorite images, and suggest new ideas to use photography to promote your business.

I hope you will add us to your address book to assure continued delivery of news and information from A la Carte Digital Studios.

IN THIS ISSUE:

MAKE A GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION

Photography is the visual image of your company and your product in the marketplace. A good photograph will capture attention, illustrate benefits, and motivate the customer to action.  Nothing is better to communicate your sales message than excellent photography.

No doubt today’s digital cameras help everyone take better pictures, but the value of a professional photographer is in his skills with lighting and experience to solve technical challenges to deliver quality images, time after time.

SOMETHING’S ALWAYS COOKING

People eat with their eyes…and we understand how important it is to have an exciting, professional quality picture of your products to stimulate a purchase decision.

Whether you are producing a new brochure, a consumer ad, web site, or trade show booth displays, A la Carte Digital Studios can create the photographic images that sell.

Our goal on every job is to exceed our clients’ expectations of dramatic and cost-effective photography – right through to the final reproduction. We have over 30 years of studio experience and a love for the work we do.

OUR NAME IS WHAT WE DO...

We picked the A la Carte Digital Studios name when we first “went digital” in 1998, to reflect our specialty in the food and beverage industry, but it also was indicative of the role we play for our clients.

You can “buy only what you need” to complete your project. For some clients, we only do photography; for others we may add digital layouts and production services; some ask us to create and manage their website; and sometimes we are asked to handle the full project from design to printing. We even provide customized training to help our client’s in-house photographers improve their results.
What can we do for you?

For over twenty years, A la Carte Digital Studios (The Graphic Marketing Group, Inc) has been providing our clients with “Big City” quality photography right here on the Peninsula — without the traffic, parking, high prices and stuffy attitude problems of “The City”.

We offer something different...we really do! If you have been less than delighted by the quality, price or service of your present sources of photography, we should be talking. You may find just what you are looking for.

Larry Guyer
Owner & Photographer
EXPERIENCE IN MEGAPIXELS

After operating The Graphic Marketing Group, Inc. in Foster City since 1981, Larry Guyer renamed the business A la Carte Digital Studios in 1998 to mark the transition into digital capture and the studio’s specialization in the food industry.

From June 1999 to December 2003, Larry worked as marketing director for Better Light, Inc. in San Carlos, a manufacturer of a high-resolution digital camera system for advertising photography and art reproduction.  “The time spent with Better Light was like going to graduate school in digital technology”, stated Guyer, “but the desire to get back behind the camera was too strong to ignore”.

The studio now offers a wide variety of photography and digital production services using three different types of digital camera backs. “We have the ability to create impeccable first generation images up to 300 MB with the Better Light scan back; plus we have two different Kodak backs for moving subjects, editorial and portraiture. It is very important to create an image with the proper equipment to have sufficient pixels in the file to record fine subject detail and enable large, high quality reproduction.”

“A la Carte” means just that… services offered to solve your problems…as little or as much as you need.
